I notice in the exif programs I'm using they don't show ISO settings. Am I missing something? The programs I've tried are Opanda IExif 2.5 and ExifRead.

Thanks

I don't know about ExifRead but I just checked an image with  IExif 2.25 and the ISO setting was there. I can't imagine they'd drop it in a new version but who am I to say...

I did poke around some and couldn't find anywhere that had options to turn off information other than using summary view and even then the ISO speed was still there.

If you're using a Canon digital camera, you can only read the ISO in it's ZoomBrowser software. That's been my experience anyway and I've tried a lot of EXIF programs including the ones you mention. It's maddening, but a fact.

I found more info. First I'm using a Nikon D50. Someone told me that Nikon does something weird with the ISO settings. I was directed to a Nikon Exif fix progam. I downloaded and ran it against my Nikon images and it didn't fix them! So I'll keep digging.

Thanks

Hmmmmn, obviously not all Canon cameras fall into that statement Gail. As shown above the Canon 20D info can be read in IExif. Huh

Note: A quick check in Picasa also shows the some EXIF data (including ISO) in .jpg files converted from RAW (though no EXIF shows for the RAW file.

Good point!

Sorry, I should have clarified by stating that many users of Canon consumer digital cameras have reported that they can not read ISO in the EXIF data excpet in Canon software. I've had four Canon cameras and found that to be the case.  In my pbase and flickr accounts data is displayrd but no ISO.

I made some progress. The "fix" programs work only on the original images.  Then you can modify the image and the ISO info remains. The 2 fix programs I used are:

IsoFix12
NikonExifFix

I use Irfanview for image viewing and some basic image editing.  It shows the ISO value on pictures taken with my Canon S2 IS, unless the auto ISO setting is used - then it just says "Auto" in Irfanview.

Nice little free download - I'd suggest checking it out.
