This is not camera related, but maybe someone can help. Every website I go to, has blurry pictures on it. I can only suspect the problem is with my computer, but it is a new compaq, so maybe it has something to do with a function. The pictures always look blurred, with little squares, in, or around the pictures. The squares are fragments of the pictures. This just started a few months ago. Ever heard of this??

Hi larc49 and welcome to the Q&A Board. Your problem isn't something I've encountered but it may be your video card, your monitor or perhaps something as simple as your monitor/video settings. Start with your display settings (control panel > display > setting tab and see if it's set to the highest quality possible. (32 bit)
The next thing would be to borrow a different monitor and see if the images look the same. If your computer is less than a year old you might contact Compaq support and see what they have to say.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

At first blush, it sounds like your monitor or video card is flaking out on you.  More likely your monitor.  Have you tried degaussing your monitor?

No problem with text?  No problem viewing pictures in apps other than your web browser?

Since it's only websites where images look pixelated, try some of these suggestions, especially the first:

Clear your browser cache, close it, open it, and then refresh your browser.

If you're using Internet Explorer, check the Advanced settings in the Internet Options. Under Multimedia, select Smart Image Dithering to see if it helps. If you're using a different browser, check for similar image quality settings.

Some browsers like AOL automatically compress images so they load faster into the browser. The trade off is that they look exactly like you describe. This feature is especially helpful for dial-up users but rarely needed for broadband users. I haven't used AOL for a long time but there is a setting to disable compressed images.

Again, don't forget to clean your browser cache of Temporary Internet files: In IE it's Tools > Internet Options > Delete Files (not necessary to Delete cookies). Please read your browser help files for additional information.

If the things we've suggested don't work, contact your computer manufacturer. When you find a solution, let us know if you have a few moments.

Yeah, it sounds like an internet speed accellerator setting result to me. AOL, Earthlink, and other providers use a pretty robust compression to increase the perceived connection speed of the dialup connection. If you go into the setting for your provider, you can adjust those compression settings. If you want to view the images without that extensive pixelation, turn the speed accellerator off or set it to "low" and "never compress" respectively. You'll notice that your download time will increase, but you'll also see smoother, more natural images.

Hope this helps.  Smiley
