I recently purchased a canon sd400 which I love.  I've taken tons of pictures and had no problem uploading them to my web site.

I am having problems with the movie clips (.avi files).  I can post them on the Web but when I click on the link to play them, I'm getting a generic "cannot play this file" error message.

I've posted other .avi files from other people on my site that I am able to play without any problems.  I'm wondering if there is a setting or something that I am missing on the camera.

Has anyone else had any experiences like this?

Hi crazy_cameraman, and welcome to the Q&A Board!

Hmmm, can you give us a link to the file so we can look at the code?

I would think it would open in Windows media player, and am assuming you have the player on your computer. I do not know enough about video files to give you a specific answer as to why this is happening, but in the past I've had the same problem until I converted the file to another format. You can use Video Impression which came with the Canon ZoomBrowser software to convert the .avi file to Apple QuickTime and, if you have Apple QuickTime Pro, you can export the file to a number of different video file formats.

Hello ShutterbugGail -
I'm glad I found this board.  I know it will be very helpful.

The link opens up Windows media player, but then the error occurs.  I'll go ahead and use Video Impression with ZoomBrowser to see if I can get it working.  Thanks for the help, I'll let you know what I come up with.
