Hi,

I don't want to use the XP Camera wizard or my cameras software to download pictures on to my computer. I want to set the camera up so that it shows up under a drive letter on the computer. Does anyone know how to do this?

Thanks
Maciej

Hi Maciej,

I don't know if that can be done or not. I guess, theoretically, if connecting the camera didn't cause any onboard image transferring software to autoload, then it might. Gee, I've never tried that before so I can't advise you on that. Sorry Maciej.

Perhaps someone reading this will have a suggestion for you.

I'm not thrilled with XP's wizard either but, like Deb, don't know how to set up the camera as you describe. Is there any reason you don't want to use a memory card reader. They show up as drives.

A question. Did your camera come with software and a driver? Each digital camera I've owned had software which launches and transfers images.  I only use a card reader but assume it would be the same when you plug the camera directly into a computer.

Hi,

Thanks for the replies. Oh do I hate the transfer wizard!!  I have a memory card reader and that works fine for my SD card.  The camera also has an internal memory that I end up using alot. And it's the internal memory that I want to access as a drive.  Funny that both Win 98 and Me showed the camera as a drive.  The camera did come with software which does "EVERYTHING" including sort the photos in to albums. I am just looking for more control over the transfer process.

Since this post I deleted a photo on the internal memory and I need to recover it but the recovery software only works on logical drives.

Kind Regards
Maciej

Hmmm, if I were you I'd definately call the camera manufacturer (tech support).  Or try posting an enquiry here:
