 Hi everyone

I just saw on the net that there are such a thing as software for recovering picturs.  Can anyone recommend one and do they work.

This is what happened.  I taken photos of my nieces between Saturday and more yesterday.

I put the card in the slot on my pc and went into the Fuji100 folder and all of the pictures I took were there and I started saving them to 'my documents'.  One or two were fuzzy so I deleted the first fuzzy one with no problem and then I came to another one and the picture was highlighted and I asked did I want to delete this pic and I said yes but I dont know what happened but all the pictures were wiped.  I looked in every folder and even put the card back in the camera and there are no images left.

I had saved about 17 but there are about 10 missing and one lovely one of all my nieces out in the garden, this is the one I'm most upset about losing.

I'd be grateful for any tips or if anyone can figure out what may have happened and a recommendation for a software to use to try and recover the pictures.

Thanks everyone!

Hi Geraldine and welcome to the Q&A Board,

Sorry to hear about your lost photos. There is a strong possibilty, though not a guarantee, that you can recover the lost images.

Here is an article about photo recovery software that I found to be very effective:

http://www.digicamhelp.com/digital-photo-recovery-and-rescue/

There are some free photo resuce programs and one or two are listed here (always read the websites disclaimers before downloading software):

http://www.digicamhelp.com/free-digital-camera-software/index.htm

You can also download free trial versions of photo recovery software that can be purchased. They are usually limited in their functionality, but have enough function so you can get an idea if and how they work.

Also, if I understand you correctly, you deleted a photo from the memory card using your computer. This can cause problems. Here's some information about how memory cards become corrupted and I highly recommend you (and others) read through the list.

Good luck recovering you photos. Let us know how it goes.

Hi ShutterbugGail

Thanks so much for that and certainly will let you know how it goes.  Hopefully the files will be found.

You're correct.  I deleted a file on the card using the computer.  I was in the Fuji application at the time so it looks like I corrupted the card doing this.

Hi ShutterbugGail

I've had success!  All my photos from yesterday and Saturday have been restored and even ones that I had deleted from a few weeks ago which I had deleted off the camera.

Thanks so much.  You have been a great help!

Congratulations!

So glad to hear you recovered your photos. The software is pretty amazing, isn't it!
