Working with digital images

Hi there,

I am trying to print borderless A4 pictures. I am (kind of) aware of the aspect ratio problem and have tried to use Photoshop Elements to crop the images myself so that the printer doesnt do it for me. I have cropped with the A4 dimensions of 297mm x 210mm. When I go to print the image however, the printer still crops a wee bit of the image on all four sides. What can I do about this?

Welcome to the Q&A Board!

I'm assuming you're making borderless prints. When doing borderless printing, the image to be printed is enlarged so that it slightly extends off the paper.  Check your printer driver properties and see if it has a setting called something similar to "Amount of Extension." It is a feature which lets you adjust how much the photo is enlarged. Adjust the slider so less of the image is extended.

As a aside, this feature can't be used on some printers if you have the printer paper selection set on standard, rather than, photo paper.

Another option too is that you crop images a few mm larger.
