Hi there, and welcome to the Q&A Board!

I've owned several Canon digital cameras and you typically access the language via the Menu button. If you have a compact camera, when you click the Menu button you have a window on the LCD with three tabs. Click on the tab that has Tools on it. Scroll down the list until you come to Language...and select it. Then toggle and scroll until you find English.

Check the manual for camera specific instructions.

Hi, thanks for your response!

The problem is, that the manual is in Japanese! Will try looking at the menu and see if I can fix it!

You didn't mention what camera you have. You can usually download a electronic version of a manual in .PDF format, at the support section of a manufacturer's website.

Here's Canon's:

http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=SupportIndexAct

The Canon menus for compact digital cameras are pretty much similar for the past several years, so it you follow my suggestions above you should be able to change the language. If it's a dslr, it slightly different.

Thanks! I managed to change the language setting, which is great, but I can't seem to track down an English version of the manual online.

The camera is a Canon IXY DIGITAL 920 IS

Would you have any idea where I can get this?

Thanks for your help

You should be able to get a copy of the user guide at the Canon website. The SD880 is the US model number for the IXUS 920 (Japan). Here's a link to the download page. You'll need to scroll down for the user guide.

Thank you so much, I would never have known about the model numbers being different in the US, so this is a BIG help!

I have now downloaded the manual!
