I have a Sony DSC-H9 camera and a Zeikos 2x Telephoto 72mm lens and an adapter ring that fits the lens. Is it possible to get the lens to fit the camera? The lens has a larger diameter than the camera's lens.
Also, if it isn't possible what telephoto lens do I need that will fit?
Thanks for your help!

Hi,

I know the H9 well, but not the Zeiko. What I can tell you is this:

1-not all converter lenses (teleconverter in this case) work well with all cameras. Sony make a 1,7x teleconverter designed to fit their line of "H" cameras.

2-to attach the converter to your camera (assuming the teleconverter has a standard filter thread, apparently 72 mm in this case) you need to screw it into the adapter tube that you mention. I believe yours has a 58 m thread diameter. So you will need a step-up ring, or a combination of step-up rings. For instance, I own a 49 to 52 mm ring, allowing me to use 52 mm filters on a 49 mm thread. Do not use a step-DOWN ring, this does the reverse.

3-The lens being larger is a good thing, it won't cause problems. If it was smaller, that would be another story.

I hope I helped!

Thanks very much for the information. I will check into the adapter rings. Since it seems the rings only alter the diameter about 3-4 mm, I'll need quite the number of rings, huh? Seems like there should be a better way!  Smiley
I appreciate your help.
