Question:

Hello there,

I bought my Nikon D-80 about 4 months ago and I have only just now started having problems with it.

Today was a very sunny day, I was out taking photographs and all my photographs are extremely light.

I have noticed this problem cropping up recently but out of about 40 shots only 2 were like that, but now it is them all.

The camera is well looked after and hasnt ever been dropped so I'm a bit confused.

Any help and advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Alison

Hi there Alison, here are a couple of settings to check:

1. check your EV adjustment and make sure it's set to 0
2. when shooting, check to see if your overexposure indicator is lit. If it is, make the necessary adjustment to your aperture, shutter speed or ISO value

Let us know if this helps or if you continue to have problems.

I looked at your EXIF data and your ISO was set at 400. Perhaps it was too much for a very bright day.

Lower it and see if it helps. If not, try resetting the camera to it's default setting. Hopefully it's just a setting problem.

If none of the suggestions work, call Nikon tech support.
