I'm having a problems connecting my Olympus FE-230 with my laptop with Windows XP.

I was given the camera by a friend with only the battery charger and usb cable, so I installed Olympus Master 2 from the Olympus website to start uploading pictures from my camera.

I followed the instructions on how to connect your camera to you laptop. Once I'd connected the camera using the usb, I select the PC option and then the camera goes into the blue screen 'one moment' mode, but that's as far as it will go. I also noticed that the memory light does not flash as if it's thinking (like my dad's Olympus camera does) whilst on the 'one moment' screen.

I cannot figure out if the problem is my computer or my camera.

Thanks for any help anyone can offer.

Hi  thewizardofoz87 and welcome!

Have you tried unistalling and reinstalling the driver? Or, if you have System Restore enabled, you can go back to before you installed the software.

If that doesn't work, another option is to buy a separate memory card reader. There are advantages to using a card reader, including saving drain on the camera batteries.

Sometimes the software has a conflict with other programs on the computer and it really can be tricky to get them to work, if at all. You may want to call Olympus tech support if this is the case.
