I bought a samsung digimax 401 compact digital camera on ebay. It worked fine when I got it, however used it one saturday, no problems but when I came to use it the following saturday it would not switch on. I changed the batteries (brand new duracell) still would not work, have tried putting batteries in both ways so not upside down. This was two months ago, just tried the camera now and it turned on, then flashed up low battery and turned itself off. Put in new batteries and tried to turn it on again nothing happened. Has anyone got any ideas why this is happening and if there is a solution?

Hi and welcome!

The first thing I would suggest is a simple trick that has been suggested on some forums. Often, that problem arises when there is dirt, dust, or oxidation on the electrical contacts withing the battery compartment. Take a pencil eraser (the pink one found at the end of pencils) and rub it on the electrical contacts. Don't forget those at the bottom of the compartment.

This might not work, but it has worked for some people. If nothing happens, I would contact Samsung. They might have a simple solution for that problem.

You could also try another set of batteries, just in case your set was defective for some reason.

Good luck!
