I currently have a Canon A460 digital camera, but I can't succeed to make clear pictures in dark conditions. What camera would you reccomend me?

Hi Mat,

Welcome to the Q&A Forum.

Other than a digital single reflex camera, there is no question that the best compact digital camera for low light photography is made by FujiFilm that has a Super CCD (not all FujiFilm cameras have a Super CCD).

Some of their older models have actually received better user recommendations than some of the newer ones that have too high megapixel count.

If I were to buy a FujiFilm digital camera, I would purchase any of the following, some have manual controls, other do not (in no special order):

FujiFilm FinePix F40 fd
FujiFilm FinePix F31 fd
Fujifilm FinePix F30
Fujifilm FinePix F20

The cameras are not widely available locally, at least in the US where I live, so you may have to order online if you decide to purchase one.

Here are some tips about buying a digital camera online:

Thank you ShutterbugGail for your valuable suggestion.
Since always I wanted a panasonic. Generally speaking compared to fuji at what level are panasonic cameras?

Panasonic is often criticized for the amount of noise in images, even at lower ISO numbers. I think the newer Panasonics, such as the TZ3 and FZ18 that I've written about in my blogs, have improved.

Still, if you shoot low light with a Panasonic and need higher ISO numbers, you may need to do some noise reduction. It is not as much of an issue if you display and print images reduced in size. If you do large prints, you may be disappointed when shooting over ISO 200.

panasonic impressed me because I saw that they have leica lens. but maybe this is not the most important to make a good photo.

I owned a Panasonic FZ3, TZ3 and now own a Pany FZ18, which I love. So don't hesitate to get a Pany if that's what you like. Just be aware of it's weaknesses. And, believe me, all digital cameras have them!!

I was only subjective, without a deep knowledge. I've read more about the noise in images from panasonic, that you told me. Technically speaking I think fuji is what I need.
Thank you!
