Digital cameras 101

hey guys out there, i have nikon coolpix L3 ,and im able to take only 5 or 6 photos,and suddenly the the display ' battery exhausted'pops.The battery is getting heated and is discharging current very quickly.Iv tried somany batteries and the same problem.I think its something wrong in the camera circuit.can this be repaired?or do i have to throw the camera.

Sorry to hear about the problems but I'd never throw a camera away until I discussed the issue with Nikon tech support.

Since you've tested it with a number of different batteries, it may very well be a problem with the camera.

What type of batteries are you using? If they are rechargeable batteries, have you conditioned them? Rechargeable batteries should be conditioned after about every 10 uses.

If it's definitely not the batteries, do call Nikon Tech Support.

If it does need repair, you need to weigh the cost of repair over buying a new one. Some digital camera manufacturers have upgrade programs:
