- switch your camera to Macro mode and shoot within the recommended range as outlined in the manual
- shoot at the widest angle, rather than zoomed in
- for best results, use a tripod
- if you're try to shoot from an unusual angle, use the twist and tilt LCD
It would also be helpful if you know something about Depth of Field. Shallow depth of field is often desirable in a macro shot, where the main subject is sharp and the background is out of focus. The degree of depth of field is controlled by the aperture.
