Hi Abstracttv2,
Welcome to the Q&A Board!
When using the flash, make sure you stay within the flash range recommended in the manual. If images are coming out too bright, you may be standing too close. Or, the room may be too dark and results in a stronger flash output.
Here are some tips about using a built-in camera flash:
http://www.digicamhelp.com/taking-photos/lighting-techniques/low-light-flash.phphttp://www.digicamhelp.com/camera-features/camera-parts/camera-flash.phpI'm not quite sure whey photos are too dark in direct light. I can't find the specifications for this camera, but if you can change ISO, increase it a little bit. And, if you can, change the white balance to match the main source of light in the room.
And, whatever you do, don't use the digital zoom when taking inside shots. Move in closer, rather than zoom in.
Give some of these things a try. If you have further questions, let us know.
