I've been trying my Canon SD700 for a few weeks and like almost everything about it except the flash. I'm having problems getting good photos when using the flash. They sometimes look dark, and the eyes of people sometimes look red. Any tips to improve flash photos? Thanks again for any information you care to provide.

There are some tips here on using the flash as well a a few other articles listed here. The first things that comes to mind for the dark images would be a.) the subject was outside the range of the flash and b.) you might possibly have blocked the flash with your hand (I've been known to do that  :-/). For red eye, try to keep the subject from looking directly into the camera/flash AND perhaps provide a little extra lighting to help minimize/eliminate it.

Sometimes is helps to up the ISO too. I find 200 very acceptable and even some ISO 400 shots don't come out that bad. I much rather have a photo with some noise in it, than too dark.
