I JUST BOUGHT A DSC-H2, AND MY QUESTION IS ON ADDING THE 1.7X TELE LEN'S AND IS THAT THE ONLY SIZE FOR THIS CAMERA....HOW MUCH MORE IS THAT GOING TO GIVE AS FOR AS ZOOM, THE CAMERA HAS 12X NOW, SO IN LAYMAN'S TERM'S CAN YOU EXPLAIN...PLEASE   95% OF THE PICTURES I AM TAKING ARE AT DISTANCES.

Hi baileytommy and welcome to the Q&A Board!

You'll have to do a bit of calculating:

Multiply the power of the converter by the focal length of the lens.  For example, I own the S2, which is 432mm at full tele.  Multiply 432mm x 1.7x = 734.4mm focal length.

Before calculating, convert your camera's focal length to get the 35mm equivalent. Take the maximum length then multiply it by 6.

Gail-

Is it not correct to just say that basically with the tele lens everything will look 1.7 times closer than it does now without it?  For example, if you can currently get 12x with your camera, you'll get 20.4x with the tele lens, right?

Yes, you're right. But somehow I thought the original poster wanted to know the 35mm equivalent. The formula is based on information provided at the Lensmate website.

THANK YOU FOR THE REPLY, I AM A ROOKIE AT THIS AND LEARNING ON THE FLY ...SO TO SPEAK, I AM WORKING IN THE MIDDLE EAST AND GETTING TO TAKE  A LOT OF PICTURES....BUT 90% ARE WHILE I AM MOVING.....CAN'T STOP IN MOST CASE'S.....THANKS AGAIN....WILL STAY IN TOUCH WHEN I CAN FOR ANY HELPFUL HINTS !  AGAIN THANKS
