My granddaughter has a Canon Power Shot SD600 and I reset the recording pixels, changed the date and time and made a few other adjustments.....now all the pictures that were stored are gone.  Do you think there is any way to retrieve them?  I did not knowingly erase them...unless changing some settings can cause them to be erased.  Can someone help me, I'm in big trouble. Thank you.

P.S. Would there be any point in taking it into a camera shop to ask for help?

Hi Tweetylol, changing the settings you mentioned shouldn't affect the photos already on the card. But, if you inadvertently set the playback menu to "protect", that would prevent you from viewing the images. The images are still there, just "protected". Try going to your playback menu and check to see if this feature is activated. If it is, turn it off and then look to see if your images are there.

I will try that...she is on vacation right now but I'll try to reach her and tell her to try your suggestion.  Thank you.

Don't dispair Tweetylol, even if you accidentally deleted the photos, there are free softwares that can help you recover them. I haven't used these firsthand, but others here have and I'm sure they can help if that need arises.  Smiley

Hi tweetylol,

I agree with Deb, I think your files are probably simply locked, except if you accidentally formatted the memory card, but I doubt it.

As for recovery softwares, I have used PC Inspector with success, it's free and it performed very well. so in last resort, it could be worth a try.

Thanks so much for the advice.  I remember seeing a "folder" selection as I was scrolling around the menu...maybe somehow I put her pics in a folder?  I'll take your advice and try the software PC Inspector if we find that "protect" was not locked.
