Hi,

i'm new with advanced digital camera.  I recently bough a Canon S2 IS and read a lot about aperture, shuttering, exposure, etc...

My question is : about the DOF (depth of field), i got the same results by using the focus than using the aperture.
Something tells me that there is a difference between there two settings and that there are for 2 differents purposes.  Can someone explain these two purposes ?

thanks

Hi qwalityboy and welcome to the Q&A Board!

If I understand you correctly, the differences you are speaking about may have to do with the length of the lens you're using. If you zoom in, you'll have less depth of field. If you zoom out, you'll have more depth of field. And yes, where you focus plays an important role as to what and how much is in focus.

Are you using a Macro mode?

I believe the following information should help answer your question. If not, don't hesitate to get back to us.
