Hi Leanne and welcome to the Q&A Board. A lot is going to depend on what file format your camera uses and what  quality settings you have set for your camera. For example I have a Fuji FinePix 3.2 megapixel camera set to fine jpeg which produces an image of approximately 400 kb so I would expect to get something over 1600 - 1700 images on a 700 mb CD (I hope my math is right). On the other hand if I use my Canon 20D (8 mp) I shoot in RAW and convert to tiff. The converted tiff file is approximately 24 mb so I could only store 29 -30 images on the CD. :-/

Yes, I have read the manual and it is woefully inadequate.  I know the files are in JPEG format and I have the resolution to the highest at 4 megapixels.  I can't find anything in the manual or the on board menus that references compression.  I apperciate your input.  Great site!  Thanks!

Thanks for you kind words about Digicamhelp.

I know the following gives information about memory card capacity, but it may provide a decent guesstimate of how many 4 mp/best quality prints will fit on a standard 700 MB CD, probably somewhere between 300 and 400 images.

http://www.digicamhelp.com/learn/camera-questions-and-answers/memory-card-capacity.htm

Remember, the sizes of image files vary. The number and brightness of colors in a scene can increase or decrease file size. If, for example, you shoot a scene in black and white, it will be a smaller size than if you had taken it in color.  Editing and resaving an image can also significantly change the file size, up or down.

So you can see why it's difficult to say with any precision the number of images that can be burned into a CD.
