Four features I wish were on the Pentax K20D:
- Programable custom button – At least one custom button that can be programmed to access a favourite user feature. White balance (which is changed in a menu) would be a good candidate for this.
- Contrast focus while using Live View – Currently, the camera drops the mirror down when focusing in Live View. While this is pretty fast, it would be much more convenient to keep the mirror up. Contrast focusing is the focusing system used in P&S. While it is less accurate than standard DSLRs focus systems, it would make Live View more enjoyable. Some other manufacturers offer this option.
- Improved dust removal system – The camera has a dust removal feature that can be made to operate at start-up or on request. It would be nice to have this system automatically activate when switching lenses.
- Swivel LCD – One thing I miss from my Canon S2 is the swivel LCD, an invaluable tool that is currently quasi-absent from DSLRs. A swivelling LCD is more fragile, bulkier and heavier but it augments tremendously the relevance of Live view.
