The TZ3 has some issues, but most can be dealt with. I ultimately sold this otherwise fine digital camera because it lacked a viewfinder.
Lens cover problem
There have been a few reports of problems with the lens cover. It doesn’t open or close completely when the camera is turned on and off. The camera itself functions. If you experience this problem, call Panasonic tech support.
TZ3 Dynamic Range
I take a lot of bright daylight photos, and found you have to watch for clipped highlights with the TZ3 (easy to see thanks to the large, bright 3″ LCD). When photographing in bright light, be sure to use a negative Exposure Compensation, or Bracket.
TZ3 - Too “hot” to handle?”
According to a slip of paper in the box, the TZ3 grip area the houses the battery becomes warm when taking photos. According to Panasonic, this is normal, but it can be annoying at times.
TZ3 High Speed Focus Mode
The LCD may blank out for a brief moment when using high-speed focus. This may interfere with following a subject when panning.
TZ3 Video Mode
Unlike it’s predecessor, the TZ1, the TZ3 does not continually autofocus in video mode and you can not zoom while shooting. Video mode uses a deep depth of field, so this should not be a major problem except if you try to move in on a very close subject. The TZ3 does adjust exposure. If you’re into taking video with a digital camera, there are better choices.
