Besides its exceptional high ISO performance, the F20 has some interesting and useful features:
i-Flash Intelligent Flash
According to Fujifilm, the F20 flash output recognizes scene conditions and lighting and determines the optimum flash output. Subjects in the foreground are said to appear natural while keeping background detail.
I’ve found the flash output to be the best I’ve ever obtained from a built-in digital camera flash. Saying this, I prefer to use natural light whenever possible. The key to capturing decent flash photos is to stay within the recommended flash range and use the appropriate flash mode.
Dual Shot Mode
When the camera is set to Dual Shot Mode, the Finepix F20 takes two pictures with one press of the shutter button: one with flash and one without flash. This mode is effective when you’re not sure a photo will look better with available light or flash. Just hold the camera steady after depressing the shutter button as there is a slight delay between the first and second shots. The flash shot fires second.
BE AWARE: in low light, dual mode often selects ISO 1600 (sometimes ISO 2000!) in non-flash mode and ISO 800 in flash mode.
Dual Shot mode is accessed via the Shooting Menu and is labeled Natural & Flash (the flash symbol is used). Using Dual Shot mode brings you out of “manual” mode, so you can not adjust settings such as Exposure Compensation and White Balance.
