Nikon D60

Posted by Gail Bjork on Thursday, April 10th, 2008 | Leave a comment

The Nikon D60 may not be quite so feature-rich (or expensive) as the Canon 450D I’m considering, but if it’s anything like its predecessor, it may again be one of the most comfortable DSLRs I’ve held. The importance of good ergonomics cannot be understated.

Here are some of the key specifications:

  • 10.2 Megapixel CCD sensor
  • Lens kit: 18-55mm (27mm to 82.5mm/35mm equiv) with vibration reduction (Image Stabilization)
  • 2.5 inch LCD @ 230K pixels; LCD automatically turns off when viewfinder is lifted to the eye
  • Three-area auto focus system
  • Autofocuses with with AF-S lenses only
  • Secure digital and SDHC memory cards
  • Integrated dust reduction system
  • No built-in Image Stabilization*
  • 3.7×5x2.5in / 94×126x64mm
  • 1.0 lb / 495g excluding battery and lens

Expected release date: March 29, 2008

Retail price at release: $749.95 with kit lens

*To obtain the benefits of image stabilization, lenses with built-in image stabilization are required with this camera.
