I couldn’t resist buying a SanDisk MobileMate card reader when my eyes first fell on one in an electronics retail store. At the time of this writing, it’s the smallest memory card reader on the market.
The MobileMate fits perfectly in a zippered compartment in my purse, camera bag or pocket. So I have it with me all the times.
I use Secure Digital cards but this lightweight reader also accepts MiniSD, MMC, RS-MMC, and TransFlash flash-memory cards.
The MobileMate comes with a USB travel cable, extra cap and key ring.
The thing I really like about it is that it not only works on my PC, but friends Mac computers. In fact, I can use it on almost any computer that has a USB port, so it’s great for traveling.
Watch out for the MobileMate key ring
The key cap in theory should allow me to attach the reader to my key ring. It doesn’t. It slips off easily and is good for nothing.
I called SanDisk months ago and they promised to send me a replacement. I actually forgot about it until I started writing this article. Gotta call them again today.
