  • Metering - Multiple
  • Image Stabilization - Mode 2 (image stabilization kicks the moment the shutter is button is pressed)
  • Sensitivity - ISO 100
  • Exposure Compensation - (-)2/3
  • Color mode - Standard
  • Image quality - 7MP/fine
  • Auto focus assist lamp- ON
  • White balance - AUTO
  • Scene Menu 1 - Baby (use when less flash power is needed for close-ups)
  • Scene Menu 2 - Sports (use when fast shutter speed is needed)
  • Economy - Level One
  • Digital Zoom - OFF
  • Auto LCD Review - One second (if you press the down arrow during playback mode you can review and/or delete images)

Important notes: I use these settings most of the time but change them as needed. Changes are made according to the quality of light and whether photos are taken inside or out. For example, I'd rarely using Exposure Compensation for inside photos and I'd probably up the ISO. I'd also change the white balance setting to match the predominant lighting in the room. Fortunately, you can see most of the changes on the huge LCD as settings are adjusted.

The TZ3 can use Secure Digital High-Capacity memory cards. High speed card recommended.
