TZ3 ~ overall impressions
Boy does the Panasonic TZ3 have a near-ideal zoom range from wide to long telephoto (28 to 280mm/35mm equivalent). That's a whopping 10X zoom lens housed in a solidly-built digital camera that weights only 9.9 oz/280 grams!
The TZ3 is my second Panasonic digital camera. While I know Panasonic doesn't have a stellar reputation in the "noise" department, it is not really a problem for someone like me who reduces images in size for online display, doesn't do a whole lot of low-light shooting, and rarely makes prints larger than 4x6."
First impressions
The camera has a lot of pluses that I find useful as a photographer. It includes some nifty features and an easy-to-use menu system that I discuss elsewhere in this blog. It is fun and relatively responsive and easy to use.
My biggest challenge has been learning anew how to frame shots. I've used a viewfinder for decades and the TZ3 does not have one. It takes practice holding the camera steady, particularly when using the long end of the zoom. I must press the shutter release button more gently too.
TZ3 travel zoom
The TZ stands for "travel zoom" and many owners feel it's an ideal camera to take along on a trip. It is small, lightweight and with it's versatile zoom range, it's eary to take along with you where ever you go.

Why I sold my TZ3
I sold my Panasonic TZ3 for primarily one reason: it's lack of a viewfinder.
