Issues
SD700 corner softness
Some SD700 owners report corner softness when taking shots at the widest angle and aperture. The degree of softness varies from a little to a lot. Some consider it bad enough to have returned the camera.
SD700 corner shadows
When shooting at wide angle, images with large blocks of color, especially blue skies, the corners may appear darker. The solution is to zoom in a bit. Some other digital cameras exhibit this same problem to varying degrees.
SD700 flash
There is also some drop off when using the flash at wide angle. The flash is not very powerful and should be used within the specified range for the focal length.
SD700 sounds
Makes some sound when the camera focuses; I personally do not find it annoying but others may.
SD700 video
Picks up background noise, like most small, compact cameras. If video is one of the reasons you're buying a digtal camera, check this out to make sure you can live with it's limitations.
SD700 LCD: non issue
The SD700 "gains up" (lightens) in low light so images are easier to see. However, the screen appears grainy or noisey. Images also appear in slow-motion. Gaining up is normal. This and other important issues about the LCD monitor are explained in the Trouble Shooting section of the Advanced User Guide (pgs. 99-100).
