December 2006 - If you own a Canon PowerShot A530 or A540 digital camera, you need to be aware of the following information.
Canon is recalling a small number of PowerShot A530 and A540 digital cameras. Some of these cameras run the risk of a short-circuit that can lead to overheating.
Affected Canon digital cameras can cause burns
Affected cameras have very hot battery doors and significantly reduced battery life. The spring on the battery door may become so hot that it causes burns.
Cameras being recalled have serial numbers that begin with "21", "22", "23" and "24". Serial numbers are located at the bottom of the camera.
Canon will repair all affected models free of charge even if the camera is in warranty or not.
