Service advisory - Canon 10.07
Canon issued a service advisory for owners of the A650-IS digital cameras in October 2007. There is a light leak affecting some cameras.
To tell if yours is affected, it will have a zero as the fifth digit of its serial number found on the bottom of the camera.
According to Canon, when shooting with the variangle LCD monitor open under sunny skies, where sunlight shines directly on the exposed back of the camera, light can leak onto images.
All affected cameras will be repaired at no charge.
