Digital camera reliability
Give your camera TLC
Assuming you give it lots of Tender Loving Care, your digital camera should last for many years. There are always exceptions but, like computers, digital cameras are quite reliable.
If they are going to have problems, they tend to surface during the first year of use. Inexpensive digicams will not last as long as those that are made with better materials.
If a digital camera is subjected to abuse, such as bumping or dropping, damage obviously can occur. Excess water and humidity can cause damage beyond repair.
Pointing your camera at strong sunlight for a prolonged time can ruin the sensor...and your eyes.
If you take care of your digital camera, in all likelihood you may come to consider it obsolete before it ceases functioning.
