The Missing Camera
I read a post in a photography forum that down-right surprised me. The incident discussed is something I never would have thought about on my own.
The forum participant shared that he bought a digital camera three weeks before Christmas as a present for his wife. Without looking inside, he wrapped the box. When his wife opened it Christmas morning, the camera was missing. The starter memory card, cables, battery, charger, manuals, CD and other goodies were there. But not the camera.
What an unexpected, unwelcome and disappointing surprise! Most likely the box was for a camera on disply at the store. Some digital cameras are so tiny and lightweight, you'd never know whether or not one was in the box unless you checked.
I didn't follow the forum thread long enough to know how this all turned out. I certainly hope the store gave the fellow his digital camera.
The likelihood of this happening is rare. But you bet I'll always check a box before leaving the store to see if anything is opened or missing.
How about you?
