Anti-glare screen protectors
Every camera I've ever owned had a viewfinder...until I got the Panasonic TZ3. It has a 3" high resolution LCD that is mostly a pleasure to use. But the LCD can be the pits when taking photos in bright light at certain angles.
There are a lot of features I desire and find useful in a digital camera. But having the LCD act as a mirror so I can see my own reflection is certainly not one of them.
When I was out shooting the other day, the sun hit the LCD so strongly that I could not even frame the shot. The highly polished surface indeed became a mirror making it virtually impossible to view the scene. I've been in this situation with other cameras but, as mentioned, I could use the viewfinder.
As soon as I got home I ordered an anti-glare LCD protector. It arrived in a few days.
What a difference. It not only protects the screen from scratches but significantly improves viewing the LCD in bright sun, though it's not perfect in every cirumstance.
I'm often asked which LCD protector I use. It's made by BoxWave. It's easy to apply and virtually bubble free. It can also be removed, rinsed off and reapplied.
Did I mention it's easy to apply? It's the first LCD protector that didn't make me feel like I was ready to explode trying to apply it. I actually applied it myself. I didn't even have to hand the camera and LCD protector to my husband, who previously got the job because he has more patience for these types of things.
