Getting back into owning a single lens reflex camera can be an expensive proposition. I certainly didn’t want to skimp on the camera bag that protects my gear!
Soon after purchasing my first digital SLR, the Canon XSi/450D, I found myself buying a second lens and accessories such as higher capacity secure digital memory cards, filters, a lens hood...you get the picture.
My requirements for a camera bag
My old, well-used and loved Domke bag is not padded enough to protect the delicate equipment. Besides good padding, I wanted a bag large enough to hold my photo equipment and accessories, yet small enough that it doesn’t feel like I’m carting around a piece of luggage.
The Lowepro Nova 170 AW fits my requirements perfectly!
It holds my XSi with the kit lens attached, my Canon 55-250mm IS lens, charger, some memory cards, cables and a few cleaning supplies. It can also hold a flash unit, but I don't own one. Instead, I squeeze my Panasonic FZ18 in the bag.
Padded interior dividers can be adjusted to fit the gear so things don't move and get bumped around when carrying the bag.
One of the things I really like about Lowepro All Weather bags is the special cover that protects the bag from the elements. It encases the entire bag yet equipment can still be accessed. It has its own storage compartment and can be folded and tucked away when not in use.
The Nova 170 has a very comfortable padded shoulder strap, a cushioned grab handle and a belt loop so the bag can be worn as a beltpack.
My new DSLR is in good hands...both mine and the camera bag!
